An angel whose wings have been clipped by insecurity
Self-doubt robs her of all sense of surety
She fishes for love to help her wounds heal
While broken men desperately grasp for her reel
Mending her wings using parts of themselves
Putting their goals right back on their shelves
All in a futile effort to become more whole
Tending to nothing but her beautiful, tortured soul
Pleading "if only" to unyielding forces
To help her find worth from intrinsic sources
If only her family had treated her right
If only her true value sat well within sight
Instead, she relies on men to hold her
And yet, she peers right over their shoulders
All for the sake of finding the next
Wondering why each just leaves her more perplexed
